About The Author

Dr. Francis K. Sang, CBS, is an assistant professor of criminal justice at the United States International University (USIU)-Africa. He served for thirty years in the Kenya Police Force, rising through the ranks to become the senior Deputy Commissioner of Police and the director of Criminal Investigation. In addition, he has served as a diplomat for ten years at the Nairobi-based intergovernmental body, the Regional Centre on Small Arms and Light Weapons (RECSA), as executive secretary. He is a graduate of the Bramshill Police Staff College in the United Kingdom, undertaking a Strategic Police Leadership course. He has a master’s degree in criminal justice from Leicester University in the UK. In addition, he holds a PhD in sociology from Washington International University in the USA. He has authored and published a scholarly study, Violence and Its Impact on Human Security in Nairobi. In addition, he has written a chapter in two other books titled International Police Cooperation: A Kenyan Perspective and The Enemy Within Arms Availability in Africa on Supply and Demand.
