A Series of Images by Nelson F. Santiago

by Nelson F. Santiago

About The Book

  • The Artist says: “I often respond to the marks on the canvas so that there is no preconceived thought intention. This allows me the freedom to tap into my center and rise to a higher level of consciousness. Sometimes a piece will lay around for several months until one day I finally resolve the content and finish it. I have four Journals and
at any given time they are at my reach where things may be drawn or written for my review. These are not in any chronological order but I always date the image or text.”
Again: “The work is abstracted but still realistic with no attempt at being photographic. The imagery is sometimes Islander and Caribbean but can be guided by issues that are either religious or political in nature.”
“The technique may be hand drawn or stamped with stencils from a screen I have created, it is done in oil on canvas or acrylic entirely. At times the computer comes into play and an image is developed entirely digitally.”
