The Runaway

The Runaway

A Parable About How God Must Feel About His Rebellious Children

by Judith Vander Wege

About The Book

The Prophet Isaiah expresses the heart of God about rebellion in these words. “I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me. Even the animals—the donkey and the ox—know their owner and appreciate his care for them, but not my people… They have cut themselves off from my help.” (Isaiah 1:2–4)

The purpose of this paperback book is to give an understanding about how God feels when his children rebel, and also to show how he disciplines us in love for our good. It is an expansion of the earlier published e-book of the same name.

About The Author

“This is a people robbed and plundered—trapped in holes and hidden in prisons; they have become a prey with no one to rescue, a spoil with none to say ‘Restore.’ Isaiah 42:22. Judith Vander Wege, the author of Rescued by God’s Mercy, (also of The Runaway: A parable about how God feels about rebellion, and of Songs & Poems From a Yielded Heart), felt “robbed and
plundered and trapped in holes” in the years around 1981. She experienced a divorce that ‘felt like a tragic train wreck.’ She felt abandoned by God; her heartache led to wrong decisions which further messed up her life. In Rescued by God’s Mercy,” she attempts to show how God showed mercy to her in rescuing her from the trap Satan had set for her. Then God, through giving her hunger for scripture, brought her into an intimate relationship with himself. Now, Judith has a passion to help other hurting people get into an intimate relationship with God, to experience his love and healing and joy. This heart-filled narrative explains how each of us can move into a more intimate relationship with God. It uses the Old Testament book of Isaiah to explain how God longs to restore us to fellowship with himself and give us spiritual and emotional health. Judith is a Christian Freelance Writer, Composer, and Bible Study Leader. She has had articles, poems, devotionals, stories, and book reviews, published in more than 300 Christian periodicals such as Evangel, The Lutheran, Power for Living, Live, War Cry, Upper Room, Quiet Hour and other devotionals, Bread for God’s Children, and Christian Library Journal.
